BBQ Barons are a relatively new BBQ team originating from the South Coast. They formed in Summer 2013 and have developed a good fan base and loyal twitter following. Althoughthis is their first season on the BBQ competing circuit, these boys have been mates since school and have cooked, grilled, seared, cured and smoked for many years! We here at Rib Nights are very excited to have these chaps with us, one look at the photos of their food and you’ll see why!
From Round 4:
With an award winning and world recognised reputation, Andy promotes BBQ globally and over the past 3 years has visited 33 countries demonstrating butchery, live fire cookery, smoking and grilling.
Andy has also established a reputation for BBQ catered events, including clients such as The Queens 80th birthday at Balmoral Castle, NFL American Football – corporate and VIP’s at Wembley, Petronas Racing Team in Dubai, many famous actors, football celebrities and even the vultures at the top of a Tennessee mountain!
Racks of Ruin are a team of BBQ loving individuals who have been competing in the UK since 2011. The team was formed by head chef Philip Newton, after he discovered a love for low and slow BBQ, and began exploring smoke as an ingredient. The team really came together once Glenn and Sarah joined in 2012 after a chance meeting at Grillstock festival. Whilst competing they have won 1st place trophies for BBQ Pork, Dessert and their own brand BBQ sauce which they have now started producing for general sale.
From Round 3:
This BBQ duo comprises of Ed & Emma. They started off by entering the British BBQ Society’s Mayhem in May contest in 2011 and scooped the Best Newcomer award. Fast forward a few years and they’ve racked up a whole host of trophies from competitions in the UK, Holland and USA.
Most importantly they are GRAND CHAMPIONS of Grillstock for 2012 and 2013.
Soul Food Project was setup in 2010 at the Hare andHounds in King Heath serving hearty down to earth food originating from the southern states of USA. They’ve now blossomed into having their own base at The Church and providing the food service at various other bars and events.
They may be the underdog when it comes to BBQ competing but they wouldn’t have entered unless they had something special up their sleeve.
From Round 2:
After success in a national BBQ competition in 2011 and the construction of their custom built trailer pit in 2012, Pit Smoked BBQ has established a reputation of delivering superb quality, slow cooked, smoked food at a variety of national events and festivals including the prestigious Tailgate Party for the London NFL game at Wembley in both 2012 and 2013.
Miss Piggy’s BBQ is a competitive ‘U.S.A.’ style BBQ team based in Leicestershire U.K. They are current U.K. BBQ Association Champions and have been twice British BBQ Grand Champions and are current European Champions. They are also the highest placed International team at the Jack Daniels World Championships 2012. Also the only European team to appear on US hit TV show BBQ Pitmasters!
From Round 1:
Low N Slow specialise in American Style BBQ food, adding their own twist inspired by the myriad of flavours and techniques they have tried and seen. Newcomers to the scene but already making serious waves on the street food circuit with their acclaimed Pulled Pork and Chilli Brisket in a fresh artisan gap, homemade slaw and BBQ sauce.
Although they describe themselves as an amateur BBQ team these boys have been Grillstock winners two years in a row, wowing diners with their brisket.
